Nursing Clothing Essentials

Hi girls!

Happy Tuesday & a short week! I hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous weather we are having. My third blog post on all things mum is on breastfeeding friendly clothing.

I got a few messages regarding this as I myself am currently breastfeeding my 5 week old baby girl. The more I thought about this, the more I wanted to share one bit of advice on this. Just because you are breastfeeding, you don’t have to go out and buy yet another new wardrobe to accommodate this new part of your life. To be fully honest, the only one item of clothing you should buy is a nursing bra. You will need a few of these non wired, non padded and in soft material. Everything else is just smart dressing.

Most clothes you have in your wardrobe will work as nursing outfits. Think anything with front buttons, stretchy and easy to put on and to take off. Everything from your basic tee’s to even light knitwear will work. All you need to do is wear a vest top or a string top underneath (you can invest in nursing one) Here are some of my outfits that I wore recently, all of which worked perfectly as nursing outfits in public and trust me, I was not flashing anyone ;)

All of these are fully suitable for breastfeeding and even though it might seem daunting, especially to first time mothers, dressing for this should not be an issue and I think sometimes we as women overthink things and make it harder for ourselves. I am a lot more relaxed about it and more comfortable because I suppose I am doing this for the second time around but I am so happy that I don’t have to be wasting money on clothes that are specifically made for nursing and just buy what ever I like. Here are some of my favourite pieces that I would recommend in buying.

Nursing Pack of two Bras from H&M - these are super comfortable, very affordable and brilliant quality.

These are more of a sport bra style (well that's what they remind me of), also super comfortable and very affordable. both from H&M

P.S. Penneys/Primark sell a pack of two very similar bras in black and white and are equally as good.

These nursing vests/tops not a necessity as normal tops like this if stretchy would work too but lovely material and super cheap also from H&M.

If you do want to buy a few nursing tops, I find H&M has a nice selection of a few simple ones that are equally as pretty and comfortable to breastfeed in and would be easy to style for a gorgeous outfits.
